Provide the model and actual dimensions
Record any model information on the fender, along with body length, widest diameter and photographs of the ends. Two fenders that look similar in size may require different covers. Rope connections should remain accessible.
Set the right expectation
A fender cover is a textile outer surface. It should not be viewed as a way to correct an undersized or incorrectly positioned fender. Mooring arrangement and contact conditions belong to the separate choice and use of fenders.
Ask for material-specific care
Fendequip recommends cool hand washing for its own acrylic covers while explicitly warning against applying that advice to its other products. This distinction matters: one temperature or detergent cannot be prescribed for every cover. Identify the material of your particular cover.
Check the fit as well as cleanliness
When removing a cover, inspect dirt build-up, edges and attachment openings. Check that the textile dries and fits properly again. Our coloured and named examples illustrate design choices; they do not establish a particular fibre or certification.
