Seating space on a dinghy can be limited, making cushion thickness and position as important as appearance. Our bow seating, helm-seat and flat-cushion photographs show a range of individually fitted applications.

Measure for the way you sit
The cushion base, backrest angle and surrounding access are considered together. Opening lockers, reaching the console and seat height are part of the existing layout. Note what you would like to change as well as the old dimensions.
Select foam and surface together
Renewing the outer cover alone may not resolve collapsed foam. Condition, support and frequency of use help guide the assessment. For the upholstery surface, consider outdoor use, cleaning and its relationship with the boat’s other finishes.
Seams and shaped panels
Colour changes, piping and segmented surfaces are planned with the pattern. A detail seen in a photograph cannot automatically be transferred unchanged to every seat; curves and panel layout influence the result.
Fixing and care arrangements
Cushion fixing depends on the existing base. For removable covers, discuss zip position and ease of refitting. Follow the chosen material’s care guidance; closing away wet components is not a substitute for drying.

01Can just the upholstery be replaced?
If the foam and base remain serviceable, renewing only the outer upholstery may be possible. Compression or damage can change the scope.
02Is all cushion foam the same?
No. Use frequency, exposure to water, thickness and support preferences matter. Assess the specification of the selected foam.
