A local name is not a specification
The Turkish term fayfır commonly describes a mesh sunshade on a boat. The name alone does not identify a brand or performance level. Ask for the exact product name and technical sheet so that different proposals can be compared on a consistent basis.
Separate shading from rain protection
Mesh does not serve the same purpose as a solid rain cover. Phifer’s exterior shading ranges include different constructions and openness levels. A single shading percentage therefore cannot be applied to every mesh fabric. Explain whether your priority is managing sunlight or keeping rain out.
View a sample against the light
A small sample in your hand can look different from a large installed screen. Where possible, look through it in the direction of your normal sea view at different times of day. Consider privacy after dark when the inside may be brighter than the outside.
Remember everyday handling
Would daily removal or gathering the shade in place be easier? Is a zip needed at an access point? Where will it be kept at the end of the season? Considering these questions alongside the material choice leads to a more practical arrangement.
